Post IBD Tour

Come and join us for the Post IBD Tour, and let us show you the wonders of Hungary! You will gain a deep knowledge and understanding of Hungary and the Hungarians (aliens of Planet Earth) by the end of the tour.

Below you can see the day by they itinerary of the 5 days long tour. We decided to make it comfortable, and organized a 'star-like tour' , which means that we leave the art'otel every morning, but return there every evening. Hungary is a small country, isn't it? This way you will also have the opportunity to discover the epic charm of Budapest's night life with its ruin bars :)

The price includes 5 extra nights with breakfast in art'otel budapest, by park plaza, between 22-27 October 2018, so you don't have to check out your room after the IBD. It also includes all transportation costs, tolls, guidance, all museum and venue entrance fees, all lunches with drinks, and one wine tasting program. We will also provide your return airport/station transfers after the IBD, at any requested time, according to your booking. The full price is for single accommodation. If you have a partner that you share the room with, one has to pay the full price, and the other pays a reduced price.

Please note that for this price we only have an option for a limited number of hotel rooms, and for a limited time. This means that the price is only guaranteed for a while, so we sell the tour on a first come, first served basis, and we may have to increase the price later.

Even though the tour is organized by a tour operator, it is fully under our control.
You are going to be surrounded by Mensans all over the country smiley.

Price for delegates and non-delegates: 1475€
Price for the second person in a double room: 875€

Budapest has a lot more to show than what you can see during a 4 hours long step-on coach tour. That is the reason why the organizers decided to stay in the Hungarian capital for the first day, and show you some extraordinary, and some off the beaten path places. The program includes an interior visit to the magnificent Hungarian Parliament building.
This is followed by an interior visit to the Dohány Synagogue, the largest active synagogue in Europe.
And last, but not least, we visit to the emblematic Memento Park, the open air museum about the fall of Communism, designed by Mr. Ákos Eleőd, a well known Hungarian contemporary architect, and member of Mensa Hungary.

23 October is a national holiday, the rememberance day of the Hungarian Revolution against the Soviet occupation in 1956. Traditionally, Budapest is full of rallies, protests, official and unofficial celebrations, and half of the city is closed for the traffic. So we decided to help you escape from the capital, to explore the Hungarian country side. Today we visit Veszprém, the Hungarian queens' town, then Herend, to see the most famous Hungarian porcelain manufactury, and finally Tihany Abbey at Lake Balaton, to make it a complex natural and historical experience.

This is going to be the longest day of the program. We depart at 8 AM from the hotel, and you will have 2 hours to nap on the coach, and recover from last nights hangover. We will drive you to Pécs, to the youngest 2000 years old medieval town of Hungary. Sounds weird, isn't it? Youngest, because it is a university town, full of youngsters. 2000 years old, because we still have Roman sights there, part of the UNESCO World Heritage. And medieval, by lookout. Don't you feel like you need a drink to understand it? No worries, we will take you to Villány, the southernmost wine region of Hungary, nicknamed as the Hungarian Bordeaux, where an expert Hungarian Mensan sommelier will celebrate an after lunch wine tasting for you.

Today you will learn about rural life in Hungary. We depart from art'otel at 9:30, and drive you to Gödöllő, a small town nearby Budapest, to visit the Hungarian Schönbrunn, the summer palace of the Habsburg Empress Elisabeth, rather known as Sisi. The guided tour in the museum is followed by a short ride to Domony Valley, to the horse farm of the Lázár brothers, several times world champions in carriage driving. On the farm you will enjoy a horse show, a demonstration of the Hungarian horse taming culture, presented by the Hungarian cowboys. Then we drive you to Hollókő, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, to see the century old village and rural life in Hungary.
