Currency & Exchange

Visa, Master and Maestro cards are widely accepted, but American Express cards are not widely welcomed.

Avoid street ATM's, especially the Euronet ATM's, because their rate can cost you 20% loss.
Only use bank ATM's, which are located inside the official banks.

You won't need a lot of Hungarian cash, because you can use credit cards at most places, and Euro is also welcomed by many merchants and vendors.

If you run out of HUF, there are a lot of exchange offices around the city. Make sure you get a good rate!
